A huge THANK YOU from the students in the Weidner School of Inquiry at PHS to everyone who helped make the food drive at Martin’s Supermarket for the Heminger House in Plymouth such a HUGE success!

FIll-the-bus 2014_2 Coach Bales and his PHS basketball players volunteered with enthusiastic help and several PHS wrestlers also came out and worked the entire day.

With all the help the Weidner School of Inquiry was able to fill a large school bus with an overwhelming amount of paper products, canned goods, and cleaning supplies.

The kids were given a cart load of juice boxes. The couple came out of Martins and gave them the shopping cart and walked away with no groceries of their own.

Some just donated money to the Heminger House and over $400.00 was placed on a gift card to purchase fresh milk, meat, veggies, and fruit.

Fill-the-bus 2014_3The students unloaded all the items at the Heminger House. Needless to say, the staff was overwhelmed with the amount of items. They were definitely going to have to reorganize their storage space in the basement.

A special thank-you goes to Brenda Uceny who took time out of her Saturday to deliver and pick up the bus and even helped us load and unload all of the items!

What an amazing gift to watch young adults really understand how powerful giving back to others can feel.
