City Hall09/09/14  Monday evening the Plymouth Common Council held a public hearing on the proposed 2015 budget.

The Mayor’s 2014 budget comes in at $11,617,201 which is a 2.79% increase. The majority of the increase is a 2% across the board salary increase for all city employees.

Looking at individual budgets you will that the Mayor’s fund has a 33% increase from this year. The majority of the increase is for Promotion of the city and includes an $8,000 gift to the Heminger House, $30,000 to the Boys and Girls Club, $40,000 for the high-speed passenger rail project, $10,000 to the new ER at Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center and $7,000 for his discretionary fund.

The City’s Properties and Maintenance fund has a 50% increase which includes $60,000 for acquisition, $10,000 for 4 new garage doors for the Fire Department, $10,000 for Building Improvements, $60,000 for a new roof on the city building and $100,000 for city signage.

The Clerk Treasurer has nearly an 11% increase but that includes $16,000 for a new copier and $70,000 for a new computer system.
There were no comments during the public hearing and the City Council heard first reading of the budget at the conclusion of the meeting. The will consider the budget on second and third reading during their meeting on September 22nd.
