02/20/14 ***FLOODING PROBABILITY INCREASING***
Temperatures will continue to rise over the next two days which will allow for the continued melting of the extensive snowpack. The release of much, if not potentially all of the 1.5 to 4 inches of water trapped in the snow will begin to set the stage for increasing flooding risks as rain arrives on Thursday morning. We are forecast to receive between 3/4 and 1 inch of rain which will cause an increase in water levels in ditches, creeks, retention ponds, as well as ponding on road surfaces.
If you live near areas that are prone to flooding, please take preventative action now.
The Marshall County Commissioners and Emergency Management Agency have made sand and sandbags available for those who need it. The materials are located at 9515 King Road in Plymouth (first building north of the Marshall County Highway Department). However, you will need to bring your own shovel.
Just a reminder:
If you see high water or road closed signs please do not ignore them, they are there for your protection.
Be extremely cautious when driving at night. Standing water can be difficult to see until you are right on top of it. It does not take much water to cause your vehicles tires to lose contact with the road surface which could result in an accident.
