Pack-A-Backpack2011Although we are in the middle of summer, Plymouth F.O.P 195 is already thinking about back-to-school. The annual Pack-A-Backpack campaign is underway.
The F.O.P. will be collecting school supplies and back-packs for children in the Argos, Bourbon, Bremen, Culver, LaVille and Plymouth Schools. School supplies and backpacks will be distributed to the various school counselors and you should be able to request assistance when registering for school.
Items being collected this year include: pencil boxes and bags, erasers, pencils and glue, colored pencils and highlighters along with dry erase markers. Other items needed include ear buds, lined notebook paper, plain pocket folders, and of course backpacks.
Last year Plymouth F.O.P. 195 was able to distribute more than 700 backpacks to area schools for families needing assistance.
Getting kids ready for school is not a cheap venture. Besides paying for books, new clothes and shoes kids still need school supplies. F.O.P. 195 wants all kids to go back to school with a new backpack so donations of backpacks are a primary concern. May local businesses have some fantastic sales on the everyday supplies needed but backpacks are in high demand and costly.
If you want to help Plymouth F.O.P. 195 you can drop off your donations at Oliver Ford, Opie’s Deli, Fernbaugh’s Diamonds & Fine Jewelry, the Moose Lodge in Plymouth and here at the WTCA Studios.
F.O.P. members and volunteers will be out front of Wal-Mart on Friday, August 1st from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. and on Saturday August 2nd from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. to collect additional school supplies and donations.
