Ben'sSoftPretzel_ribbonThe Ben’s Soft Pretzels held their grand opening inside the Plymouth Wal-Mart on Wednesday. This is the 26th location with the 27th scheduled to open in Elkhart on Thursday. Scott Jones, President and CEO of the company said, “By the end of this year we will have 33 locations in a five state area.”

Ben’s Soft Pretzels was founded in 2008 by a local business man, Brian Krider, a local pretzel fanatic, Scott Jones, and a local Amish Baker, Ben Miller. Brian and Scott took the old Amish/Dutch recipe that Ben and his wife Elizabeth had perfected and brought it to the public as Ben’s Soft Pretzels, LLC. Ben has been baking pretzels and other Amish baked goods for years and are 3rd generation Amish bakers.

BEn'sSoftPretzel_MayorMarkPlymouth Mayor Mark Senter attended the grand opening ceremonies and cut the red ribbon making Ben’s Soft Pretzels an official business in our community. Senter said, “This is another great day for the City of Plymouth. I’m sure the citizens will love these soft, warm pretzels.”

Connie Holzwart representing the Plymouth Chamber of Commerce said, “We welcome you to the community.”

Ben'sSoftPretzel_lineAs part of the grand opening celebration FREE pretzels were handed out to those who stopped by the shop on Wednesday. It was estimated that between 1,300 and 1,500 pretzels would be given-away. They also offered the opportunity to sign up for a Ben’s Pretzel card. With every 30 points you collect you will receive a free pretzel and also a free one on your birthday.

Not only can you find preservative free Ben’s Soft Pretzels at the Plymouth Wal-Mart but they also offer off site events like the Indiana State Fair and the Marshall County Blueberry Festival along with Notre Dame Football and Basketball events, at Murray State in Kentucky, the University of Wisconsin and occasionally at Valparaiso University.
