NIPSCO has the gas leak at Oak Drive and Harrison Street contained.
Plymouth Fire and Police were dispatched to the gas leak at 10:15 Friday monrinng when the crew from Michiana Contracting installing the Metronet conduit hit a 6 inch gas main. Emergency responders evacuated employees at Beacon Credit Union and less than a dozen homes in the area. Due to the light winds employees at both Valmont and Maxx were not evacuated.
At 2:35 Friday afternoon NIPSCO crews had the leak contained although they are still in the area repairing the pipe and the Oak Drive is still closed.
It is expected that NIPSCO will be in the area all night repairing the line. It is asked that you continue to avoid the area, if possible.
