SugarShack_logoStephanie Bishop and her family were excited to see the grand opening of the Sugar Shack Saturday morning in Plymouth.

Bishop has been baking and selling all kinds of confections out of her home for more than two year. She recently took a leap of faith to create the only hometown bakery in Plymouth, the Sugar Shack at 401 East Jefferson Street.

SugarShack_candy cupboardHer new landlord, Rodney Jacobs was impressed with Stephanie’s baking after seeing her host Season’s Favorite Holiday Bazaar last year in Memories Hall. Jacob asked Bishop about opening a shop in the building and she jumped at the idea. Not only does she sell from the site but also uses the kitchen in the back to bake all those temping treats.

The Sugar Shack is a full service bakery that specializes in custom cakes for weddings, birthdays, showers and anniversaries. The shop will offer cookies, cupcakes, sweet breads, fudge, candies and pies. Stephanie said, “Future plans are to offer cakes and pies by the slice.” She continued, “I want to know my customers and when they come in for a muffin and cup of coffee I want to ask how their new grandbaby is or if they’re feeling better.”

Connie Holzwart, Executive Director of the Chamber of Commerce said, “We are pleased to welcome you to the community. You bring something new and tasty to Plymouth.”

SugarShack_candy&breadThe Sugar Shack is open Monday through Friday from 6 a.m. until 6 p.m. and Saturday from 6 a.m. until noon. They will offer dine-in in the future and now carry-out and call-ahead ordering. The Sugar Shack is located just inside the front door of Memories.
