Monday morning the official ground breaking ceremony was held for the $4.5 million expansion at American Container Inc.

Last November Leonard and Mike Isban announced plans to purchase new manufacturing equipment valued at $3 million and construct a 39,000 square foot addition to the south end of the plant on Western Avenue estimated to cost $1.5 million.

Majority Builders has been working on the project for a couple of weeks but the Isbans wanted to do the official groundbreaking using the event to thank the city for a personal property and real property tax abatement.

Participants were given a tour of the plant which is the corporate headquarters.  American Container also has plants in Carrollton, GA and Stockton CA.

The new manufacturing equipment is capable of printing, cutting, folding, creasing and gluing 12,000 to 14,000 boxes an hour.  They do custom order packaging for local companies, regional, national and international customers.
