Last week the Marshall County Historical Society Centennial Farm Awards were presented by Don Balka, member of the historical society board. To be eligible for a Centennial Farm Award, the farm has to be owned by the same family for 100 years and submit pictures of the buildings on the property for approval.
Glenn Martin accepted the award for The Martin Farm, located 2 miles east of Tyner on 4B Rd. in Plymouth. It had been owned by his father, Frank Martin, former Marshall County sheriff, for 63 years. Glenn Martin has owned and maintained the family farm for the past 37 years. In 1944-45 they used to raise Clydesdale horses that were imported from Canada that were part of the king of England’s personal breeding stall.
