INDOT_Plymouth Sub-district_1Tuesday evening members of the Plymouth Plan Commission approved a primary plat for a three lot subdivision on 37 acres directly north of Pioneer Seed.

Representatives from PIDCO, the Plymouth Industrial Development Corporation were on hand to request the plat approval. Their request came on behalf of the Indiana Department of Transportation.

The current INDOT Plymouth Sub-district on the former US 31 needs to relocate and has been looking for a site for a couple of years. This acreage is ideal due to the direct access to US 30.

Steve McAvoy from INDOT presented renderings of a new eight to nine million dollar facility.

INDOT_Plymouth Sub-district_2Commission member Mark Gidley asked about the location of the salt barn and the conditions of the current facility with scrap metal, and the line up of junk trucks that are waiting for the action.

McAvoy said they no longer operate in those conditions. He assured the Plan Commission that due diligence is used to keep the site clean. Fencing and landscaping on the property will also help to hid material storage.
Commission member Fred Webster asked about the city’s well field protection.

McAvoy said the salt shed is fully contained to limit any seepage into the ground water.

The Plymouth Plan Commission approved the primary plat and will consider a secondary plat at their January. Prior to acceptance of the secondary plat INDOT will need to get financial guarantees in place for the projects.
