Indiana Conservation Officers are investigating an incident within Indiana Dunes State Park Tuesday of a woman who was attempting to drop off synthetic marijuana and tobacco to a work release inmate.
Christy Chavez, 38, of Knox, was arrested by Indiana Conservation Officers after being apprehended by the Indiana Department of Corrections (IDOC) Police after a suspicious vehicle was noticed in the area while the inmates were working inside the park.
Chavez was incarcerated at the Porter County Jail on charges of trafficking a controlled substance (Class C Felony) to an IDOC offender from the Westville Correctional Facility.
