Search_WarrantOn Thursday morning October 16th Indiana State Police officers served a search warrant at a residence located at 8132 North Oak Avenue with a Walkerton, IN address but the Koontz Lake area.

The purpose of the warrant was to search for items involved in methamphetamine use and manufacture. No arrests were made at this residence however, information and evidence gathered at the scene led officers to a nearby residence at 7349 North Elm Avenue in Walkerton, also in the Koontz Lake area. Officers went to the address and spoke with resident 37 year-old Katrina Schroeder, and later her husband 41 year-old Norbert Schroeder.

Both Katrina and Norbert Schroeder were eventually arrested and initially charged with methamphetamine related charges. Both suspects were cooperative throughout the investigation. Starke County Department of Child Services was contacted regarding two juveniles that lived in the Elm Avenue home.

Listeners and readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is merely an allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial by jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
