PLYMOUTH, IN – The Ancilla women’s basketball team spent most of their evening on the defensive, struggling to find their flow against visiting Ivy Tech-Indianapolis, eventually losing 67-59.
Ancilla (6-5) led in most statistical categories for the game, but the visiting Bears took advantage of 29 Charger fouls, turning them into 44 free throw attempts. On the other side, Ivy Tech’s 20 fouls only netted 16 free throw attempts for the Chargers.
Khadijah Moore led Ancilla with 18 points and nine rebounds despite being in foul trouble most of the game. Michelle Detwiler netted 13 points and pulled down nine rebounds of her own, while La’Fabian Coleman led the team with three steals and added eight points to the mix.
“Tonight was another up and down game for us,” began Ancilla coach Tom Robbins. “Khadijah Moore carried us through most of the first half including bringing us back from being down double digits. However, her foul trouble in the second half kept her out of most of the rest of the game which really hurt. Taylor Kuhnle was able to play a very limited amount of minutes coming back off of her knee injury, but was able to play enough to show me that her absence has had more of an impact on our team’s poor performance here lately than I realized. Michelle Detwiler continues to see improvement as she gave us a big lift at different points in the game.”
Ancilla finishes off their non-conference season on the road, beginning with a 2:00 p.m. tipoff at Prairie State College in Chicago Heights, Illinois on Saturday, December 13. Their final game before the new year will be Thursday, December 18at Harper College in Palatine, Illinois.
