PLYMOUTH, IN –Hope College JV overcame an eleven point halftime deficit to defeat Ancilla College 66-54 in women’s basketball.

It was a tale of two halves. The host Chargers (4-2) shot 44% in the first half, taking a 29-18 lead into the locker room at the half, but the Flying Dutchmen warmed up in the second half, shooting over 48% in the second half and outscoring Ancilla by 23 to come away with the victory.

Khadijah Moore picked up a double-double, scoring 17 points and pulling down 13 rebounds to lead Ancilla. Taylor Kuhnle and Danije Sylvester finished in double digits, as well, scoring 14 and 10 respectively. Sylvester cleaned seven rebounds off the glass, while Kuhnle grabbed six.

The loss was Ancilla’s first at home all season and just their second overall.

“This game was a good learning experience for our young team,” commented Ancilla coach Tom Robbins. “Hope did a nice job of shutting down our penetration while at the same time covering our three-point shooters. It was a good measure for what our team needs to do to compete in our conference, as Hope College has played a few of our future conference opponents.”

Ancilla’s next game is at home on Tuesday, as they host NJCAA #5 Illinois Central College at 5:30 p.m.
