Seventh Grade
The 7th grade Redstorm had a tough split in Wednesday nights games vs Tippy Valley. The A team lost a heartbreaker 39-33. The home team struggled with foul trouble most of the night and could not sustain their half time lead. Playing with a broken hand in limited minutes, Trey Galloway lead the team with 15 points and 8 rebounds. Kendal Himes was limited to only four minutes of game time, but made them count with 6 points and 6 rebounds. Kam Vanlue and Adam Hunter lead a strong defensive effort on the night. The A team returns to actionSaturday at the Northwood tournament
The 7th Grade B team ran away from Tippy in the second half to secure a 31-12 win. Every player on the team scored with Connor Ray leading the way with 6 Points. Dane Funston, Zephan Nixon, and Grant Houin all added 5 points. The team was incredibly strong defensively in the second half, holding Tippy to only two points total after the break. The B team returns to action on Monday against Wawasee.
Eighth Grade
The 8th grade Red Storm traveled to Tippy Valley last night to take on a big Vikings team. After a close 1st quarter, the Red Storm went on to defeat the Vikings 70-43. Everyone contributed offensively shooting a season high 73% from the field. Clay Hilliard led the team in scoring with 20 points followed by Cole Filson with 16 and Bryce Carmichael and Brayson Leazenby with 8 a piece. Larry Dragani had a team high 7 assists and Evan Zeigler turned in his best performance of his career setting the tone defensively all night.
The 8th grade B team also defeated Tippy Valley last night by a score of 43-12 behind a great defensive effort. Ezra Winkle led the way with 10 points followed by Shaun Frantz with 9 and Alex Baca with 7. Alex Baca also led the team in rebounds with 6 while Ezra Winkle set the tone defensively with 5 steals.
The boys are back in action this Saturday when they travel to Northwood to try and defend their tournament title from last year.
