Purdue_OttoThe Marshall County Purdue Extension Board will hold their annual meeting on Thursday, November 13th at the Pretty Lake Church beginning at 6:30 p.m.

This year’s guest speaker is Otto Doering. Doering is Director of Purdue’s Climate Change Research Center, a public policy specialist, and professor of Agricultural Economics at Purdue. He teaches, does research and engages policy makers and the public on policy issues related to natural resources, environmental issues, and agriculture. He has been a non-partisan resource for the Departments of Agriculture, Energy, Interior, and the EPA on these issues.

Dr. Doering has served for extensive periods in Washington as an Advisor and as a member of many government commissions for Higher Education. He has had similar responsibilities for state government in Indiana and served on Indiana’s Commission for Higher Education.

His climate interest has been in the adaptation of agriculture to climate change. He has a broad based understanding of climate change impacts across his areas of interest. He has been honored by his peers, serving as president of his professional association and receiving a very small piece of the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize for work with the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change.
