05/12/14  A tour of six Michigan Road cemeteries is planned for Tuesday, May 20.   There will be a short history on each cemetery and a quick walk through the cemeteries.   This event is planned by the Marshall County Genealogical Society with an open invitation to the public.

The event will last from about 5:30 p.m.-9:00 p.m. as the Genealogical Society hosts a Progressive Picnic in the Cemeteries on Marshall County’s section of the Michigan Road:  Argos Town Park (Greenslope), Taber, Taylor, Oakhill, Fairmount, and County Line (Mt. Zion).  Drinks (water) and a light five course picnic (finger food) will be served in the various locations.  At each location a short history of the cemetery will be given and a course of finger foods served.

Details will be provided on the museum website and Facebook page (Marshall County Museum Historic Crossroads Center), or call the museum (936-2306) closer to the date.

The tour will start at the Argos Park south of the stoplight at 5:30, Taber Cemetery on 12th Rd at 6:15, Taylor Cemetery (11th Rd.) at 6: 45, Oakhill Cemetery (north east section) at 7:05, Fairmount Cemetery (with a special appearance of a former resident), at 7:50 and 8:30 at County Line/Mt. Zion.

This is not a strictly timed schedule and they may run ahead or behind time.   Any and all are invited to attend.

If you’d rather carpool, meet in the parking lot west of the Plymouth Public Library at 5:00 and save some gasoline.

Reservations are not required, but if you are planning to attend, They’d like to know how much food to prepare. Short of heavy rain or snow, the event will take place as planned.     Call 936-2306 between 10 – 4 Tuesday -Saturday, ask for Karin or Anita for more details.
