02/04/14 The Northern Lakes Conference honored Mary Beth Hunter during the boys’ basketball games Friday evening at the Rock.

Mary Beth has been a major part of Plymouth athletics since 1980.  She coached PHS Girls Tennis for 20 years and the Boys Tennis team for 12 years.  Her girls’ team won 8 NLC Championships, 16 Sectional titles, and 3 Regional competitions.  Her boys’ teams won 4 NLC Championships, 4 Sectionals, 1 Regional, 1 Semi-State and 1 Final Four appearance. 

  Hunter was the Plymouth City Tennis Director for more than 30 years, the PHS Athletic Secretary from 1987 to 2013and the Assistant Athletic Director for 10 of those years.   

In 2009 Mary Beth Hunter received the prestigious Marian Archer Memorial Award from the ICGSA as an advocate for women’s sports in Indiana. 

  In front of a lineup of many former and current PHS coaches, Assistant Athletic Director John Scott said, “On behalf of Plymouth High School and the Northern Lakes Conference, we would like to present and recognize you as the 2014 recipient of the Northern Lakes Conference Service Award and lifetime gold pass to all NLC contests.”  He closed by saying, “Mary Beth, thank you for your tireless commitment and loyalty to our student athletes, our staff, our programs, and for the many friendships made along the journey.”
