City NEwsMembers of the Marshall County Redevelopment Commission were updated on the Metronet Conduit Instillation project.

Brent Martin said, “The project is substantially complete. The railroad crossings are done and inspected so that’s a major accomplishment.” He said that Hoosier Tire in Lakeville and LaVille Schools are both connected and the dark fiber has been lit. Martin indicated that next week Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center in Plymouth will be connected and lit. He commented that there are four additional subscribers and about a half dozen others looking at the possibility of becoming a subscriber.

Martin said next month will be reconciliation. Because the contract with Michiana Contracting was a quantity based agreement he will reconciling the quantities used on the project with the projected materials and determine the actual usage. He anticipates being able to present the information at the January meeting of the Redevelopment Commission. He anticipates the release of retainage and some type of change order but at this time couldn’t determine if it would be an additional or a subtraction to the project, although he did say, “it doesn’t look like the quantities will vary too much from what was projected.”
