Marshall County Detective Duane Culp is sending a theft case, criminal mischief case and auto theft case to the Marshall County Prosecutor’s Office.

These cases are related to the arrest of Charles Miltenberger III in Starke County last week.

This investigation begins on the evening of May 11th with a Marshall County Sheriff’s Deputy recovered a stolen Dodge Stratus on US 31 in the Creek Side Trailer Park.  The vehicle had been stolen out of South Bend. The suspect went across US 31 to the Gatewood Trailer Park and stole a 2000 Jeep Cherokee.

Needing gas for the vehicle, Charles Miltenberger allegedly drove to the 3,000 block of West Shore Drive at Lake of the Woods and took gas from two boats, then broke a window out of a vehicle and removed a weapon out of it.

He then drove westerly into Starke County and ditched the Jeep Cherokee in Hamlet.

Hamlet Police contacted Marshall County in reference to locating the stolen Jeep.

Charles Miltenberger III was arrested and lodged in the Starke County Jail for and auto theft in Hamlet and arson to that vehicle.

Marshall County Detective Duane Culp has turned his cases over to the Marshall County Prosecutor’s Office for formal charges against Miltenberger through Marshall County.
