01/10/14 The severe weather has made all of Marshall County alter plans this past week.  From school closings to rescheduled doctor appointments and everything in between the weather ruled!  Residents at Miller’ Senior Living even had to alter some of their plans.  The “Music To My Ears” Manan Hearing Seminar has been rescheduled to Wednesday afternoon, February 12th at 2:30 p.m.  More information about this seminar will be coming.

When the speaker and musician from Manan Hearing could not make it to Miller’s; the residents decided to make their own fun.  Activity Director Cindy Flagg got out the hymnals and led them in a hymn-sing.  Flagg’s piano skills aren’t as sharp as some and while she could provide the right hand melody; the left hand chording left much to the imagination.

That is when 93 year-old LaVanch Yarian jumped to the rescue and sat down at the piano and played the hymns beautifully.  Yarian admitted she used to play for church but hasn’t played for quite awhile.   Everyone was delighted with her playing and agreed she had not lost her touch!  The residents and staff joined in singing favorite hymns and even a few pop tunes.
