National_preparedness_month_SeptGovernor Mike Pence has declared September as Preparedness Month. Hoosiers are encouraged to become educated and empowered to prepare for and respond to all types of emergencies.

A disaster or emergency – like a winter storm, flooding, tornadoes, natural disasters or terrorist attacks – could leave households without electricity, heat and clean running water. There is a chance that communication with police, fire or rescue personnel may not be immediately available.

The Indiana Department of Homeland Security advises Hoosiers to turn awareness into action, with the goal of being self-reliant for at least three days in the event of a disaster or emergency.
