Indiana State Fair 201407/21/14  Summer is in full swing and it’s almost time for one of our state’s largest celebrations, the Indiana State Fair. The State Fair runs August 1st through August 17th in Indianapolis, and offers a variety of events and festivities that are sure to entertain people of all ages.
Indiana State Senator Randy Head said, “Additionally, the State Fair serves as a capstone of the hard work completed by more than 17,000 Hoosier 4-H exhibitors who participate in the fair.”
To help 4-H participants better prepare for and attend the Indiana State Fair, the Indiana General Assembly passed a new law allowing students in good academic standing up to five excused absences from school to participate in educational activities at the State Fair.
Students must submit a signed letter of request from their parent or guardian to local school officials for approval.
Head said, “The Indiana State Fair and 4-H are valuable to our youth, agriculture and economy. I encourage you and your family to attend the fair and partake in one of Indiana’s greatest traditions.”
