Before a room full of family, friends and co-workers the newly elected county office holders, township trustees and board members, town council members and school board members took the oath of office on Tuesday morning.
Marshall County Superior Court I Judge Rob Bowen proceeded over the ceremony in the extra court room in the Court House. He said, “I feel it is a privilege to be invited to administer the oath of office.” He continued, “You were each elected to a county office or a township office or a school board position. Yu now have the trust of the people, the people of Marshall County who have elected you have placed their trust in you.”
There were so many to be sworn into office that they were done in groups, first the county office holders and then the township, school board and town seats.
Holding their right hands in the air, each repeated the oath as Judge Bowen read it to them.
County elected officials participating in Tuesday’s swearing in ceremony for 2015 were Penny Lukenbill as Treasurer, Julie Fox who will be the new Auditor, Marlene Mahler for a second term as Recorder, Debbie Dunning who will start her third term as County Assessor, Deb VanDeMark as the new Clerk of the Courts and Judy Stone who is starting her third term on the County Council. Marshall County Sheriff Tom Chamberlin will start his second term while Kurt Garner is our newly elected County Commissioner. Also being sworn in on Tuesday was Don Morrison and Bill Githens on the County Council and Nelson Chipman as the new Prosecuting Attorney.
The second group being sworn in on Tuesday included Clarence Shively-Polk Township Board, Jack Roose-North Township Board, Jon Monhaut-German Township Board, Suzanne Umbaugh-Argos Town Council, Maria Mikel-Bremen School Board, David Stults, Sr.-Walnut Township Board, Stephen Wilhelm-Walnut Township Trustee, Matt Pitney-Tippecanoe Township Trustee, Wade Kreft-Tippecanoe Township Board,Marie Fishburn-Green Township Trustee, Hunter Kreft-Tippecanoe Township Board, Shirley Snyder-Union Township Board, Lora Middleton-Green Township Board, Terri Jo (Morrison) Hinds-Union Township Board, Jerry Greeson-Union Township Trustee.
