City NEwsThree companies presented their Requests from Proposals for the Brownfield Assessment Grant of $600,000 during Monday night’s Board of Public Works and Safety meeting. Heartland Environmental from South Bend, Bruce Carter Associates from Elkhart and TRC Environmental from Indianapolis submitted information on projects they have completed. The proposals will be taken under advisement and reviewed by a committee with a recommendation anticipated at the November 10th meeting.

Utility Superintendent Donnie Davidson updated Board of Works members on the Jefferson and Beerenbrock Street Packard Woods storm sewer project. All pipe has been installed, with trench patching scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday. Phend and Brown will be in on Thursday to mill of the existing pavement about an inch and a half with the surface material to be placed on Friday. Davidson noted the project is weather related. He also said drivers should expect minor delays especially at Jefferson and Beerenbrock when they remove the stone and install the base for the street.

Police Chief Dave Bacon told members about a year ago Officer Shanna Gilmer located an opportunity out of Elkhart to get new Automatic External Deliberators for the department. Last week Heart Reach Michiana delivered 6 new AED’s to the Plymouth Police Department. Prior to, the department only had 2. The chief noted, “At any one time we should have several available out there on the street.”
