04/24/14 On Tuesday, April 22nd at 11:30 P.M. Bourbon Police Officer Matthew Geiger was advised by the Kosciusko County Dispatch Center that a male subject wanted on an active warrant may be in Bourbon. The suspect, 27 year old Matthew S. Blount of North Judson was suspected of residing in Bourbon with a relative at 501 North Thompson Street.
Mr. Blount, who was wanted on an active warrant stemming from a drug related charge was located and arrested at the residence by Officer Geiger assisted by three Kosciusko County officers.
He was transported to the Marshall County Jail and held for a Probation Violation Warrant for Starke County.
Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is a mere allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial by jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
