Crash_Tamarack&4B_129 year old Melissa Newcomb of North Liberty was killed Wednesday night in a single vehicle crash at the intersection of Tamarack and 4B Roads.

The Marshall County Sheriff’s Department was dispatched to the crash which happened at 10:26 p.m. The investigation shows that Newcomb was south bound on tamarack Road in a 1990 4-door Oldsmobile approaching the T intersection with 4B. For unknown reasons she failed to stop at the intersection and crossed 4B Road. The front of the vehicle struck a concrete pillar.

Crash_Tamarack&4B_2Polk Township Fire had to extricate Melissa Newcomb from the vehicle. Medflight was dispatched to the scene and a landing site was set up but was cancelled en route. Newcomb was transported to Saint Joseph Regional where the Marshall County Coroner’s office drew labs.

This accident is still under investigation and alcohol and drug results are pending through the Marshall County Coroner’s office.

Assisting at the scene were Polk Township Fire, Walkerton Fire and Police the Marshall County Coroner’s office and Indiana State Police.
