TroyerGroup_headingMonday evening members of the Plymouth Park Board decided to move forward with the construction documents for phase I of Freedom Park with The Troyer Group.

Last month the park board took the step to move the all-inclusive playground from Centennial Park to Packard Woods while the city council approved funding for phase one of the project.

Troyer Group has been working with the Freedom Park committee since its inception to design a place where all kids can play together.

Due to the relocation Troyer needs to do additional site survey work to locate existing trees, sidewalks, parking areas and the restroom facility for their base design in the new park. The construction documents will also include a new site plan construction document with coordinates, elevations, drainage, landscape and other information for accurate bidding.

The agreement with The Troyer Group includes the bidding process and construction administration for a lump sum fee of $11,200.
Tony Gamble, founder of Freedom Park thanked the city for funding the first phase and said how well he thinks the Packard Woods location is ideal. He said he has talked with Jackie Wright from Older Adult Services and she would like to make the park inter-generational and said grants are available for such projects. Gamble also told the park board they plan to remodel the restroom facility to make it handicap accessible. They have approximately $15,000 for the project and hope to get in-kind services and material to complete the project.
