Miller's_PatrioticActivity Director Cindy Flagg was thrilled to receive a surprise gift sent to Miller’s Assisted Living just a few days before the July 4th holiday. It came all the way from Alabama.
When Shirley Apple was a resident at Miller’s Assisted Living, her daughter Carol Steele of Cullman, Alabama presented several quilted, holiday wall hangings to the activity department. The quilts were beautifully stitched and represented Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas. The residents enjoyed the different wall hangings and Shirley would proudly tell visitors about her daughter who made and donated them to the facility.
When Flagg saw the return address on the box, she knew it had to be something very special. She had mentioned once to Carol that she would love to have a patriotic wall hanging for the facility. Although her mother, Shirley has passed on; Carol has not forgotten her friends at Miller’s. She sent them a beautiful, patriotic wall hanging with a flag background, a bald eagle and the words to the “Pledge of Allegiance” stitched on it. Everyone that sees it is in awe of it. It is a lovely addition to their collection of holiday wall hangings.
