RetirementLast week the Marshall County Council approved an additional appropriation request of Superior Court I Judge Rob Bowen. Bowen told members he has a retirement in his office for August 1st and needed to hire a new employee prior to her leaving to allow for two weeks of on the job training. He also noted that the new employee is coming from the Clerk’s Office and has been with the county for 12 years. Therefore he asked to waive the 90 day probationary period to only two weeks and allow their longevity and vacation carry over. The Council unanimously approved the request.
Due to changes with PERF (Public Employee Retirement Fund) the county is experiencing several early retirements.
County Recorder Marlene Mahler said she will need an additional to cover the vacation, sick time and personnel days Joyce Wilson will have when she retires the end of August. Mahler said her office staff is only one other full time and one part time employee. She also asked for and received approval to begin the hiring process to fill the vacancy for September 1st.
The Clerk’s Office has an employee moving to Superior Court I so they were granted approval to begin the hiring process and it was also noted that Linda Star will be retiring the end of August.
