Police-singPlymouth Police Chief, David Bacon was granted approval to seek quotes for much needed maintenance work at the police department.

Monday night the Chief appeared before the Board of Public Works and Safety and explained some remolding he would like to complete at the department. The project includes some exterior painting of trim and on the interior the removal of some wallpaper that has been up since the 90’s.

Chief Bacon would also like to modify the clerical area. At one time there were two clerks but when one retired he decided not to replace the position. The room is rather large and he would like to put a wall up in there and move the assistant chief into that office freeing up the office he is currently in. That space could then be used as a victim’s room and another interview room for the department.

When asked about the budget, Chief Bacon said he had discussed the plans with Clerk Treasure Toni Hutchings and she put money in the City Property and Maintenance Fund.

Hutchings said there is $60,000 in the fund that can be used for the project.
