Tree LightingAlthough fall has just begun, the Christmas Tree Lighting and Holiday Parade committee has started preparations for the annual event that will be held on Friday, November 28th.

Last week members gathered and selected the theme “A Christmas Carol” for the lighted parade. There will soon be a simple application process to get a unit in the lighted parade that will begin at 6 p.m. This year the committee has determined there will be no stopping and or performing during the parade. Deadline to get applications submitted is November 21st at 4 p.m. Again this year the parade will be lead by two bell ringers and the committee is working on the process to select this year’s bell ringers.

There will be two brand new events added to the evening. Ice sculptures in the downtown area and in River Park Square a professionally choreographed light show. The light show which has been generously sponsored will be evenings for the entire month of December. The committee already has three of the ice sculptures sponsored but there are many more available. Sponsors can choice a 300 or 600 pound block of ice, the design they want and if they would like to have it carved on site or at City’s Pure Ice in LaPorte and then transported to Plymouth for the tree lightening and lighted Christmas parade. For information on sponsoring an ice sculpture contact Connie Holzwart at the Plymouth Chamber of Commerce. Sponsor pricing begins at approximately $150.
