MISHAWAKA – The Plymouth Varsity opened their 9 hole match season splitting a three-way match with Bremen and host Mishawaka Marian at Eberhart-Petro Tuesday evening.  The Plymouth Varsity is 1-1 on the young season.  The Plymouth JV won a tight match by three shots over the hosts improving to 1-0 on the season.  Bremen did not field a full JV squad.

Since Marian and Plymouth started playing each other in 2010 matches have often been decided by single shots, 5th man scores, and rarely seen team playoffs.  Tuesday evening was another chapter in this tight rivalry.  Marian besting the Pilgrims 160 to 162.
Plymouth’s Nate Kolter got the Pilgrims out to an early lead shooting 37 garnering Medalist honors.  Strong scores from Marian’s #2, #3 lineup positions we’re too much to overcome for the rest of the Pilgrims.  The golf course got the best of the players Tuesday.  Very few of the Pilgrims had played Eberhart-Petro.  Negotiating unfamiliar terrain and cool windy conditions provided quite a challenge.  Playing a shorter par 34, shot makers style course, early in the season, will only make our team stronger going forward.  Tuesday was a definite learning experience for all.
Scoring and leading the JV were sophomore Curtis Smith and freshman Hudson Yoder both with 42.
Both squads are back in action Thursday in our home opener at PCC starting at 5pm.  Coming to town are Triton, CMA, and SB Adams.
