04/29/14  On Saturday, April 26th the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department obtained a medical call in reference to a situation at a residence located on 11th Road just east of Nutmeg Road.  Plymouth EMS responded to the location and found 86 year old Richard Uceny with a gunshot wound.  Mr. Uceny was airlifted from the Plymouth Airport to Memorial Hospital in South Bend where he was later pronounced deceased. Marshall County Sheriff’s Deputy Les McFarland responded to the residence and lead the investigation that revealed the gunshot wound was self-inflicted.  The Marshall County Sheriff’s Department continues to investigate this incident.

Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is a mere allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial by jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
