FreedomPark_logoWith a bit of hesitation the Plymouth Park Board approved the request of Tony Gamble to use the Young Amphitheatre, Centennial Park and Greenway Trail for a color run to benefit Freedom Park, the all-inclusive playground being planned for the area near the Hoosier Old Wheels Pavilion.
During the meeting on Monday Gamble explained that colored cornstarch would be sprayed into the air in specific locations and runners who choose to run through the color would come off the trail and into the grass to keep the color off the path. Park board members have had issues with other event where direction markings were permanently placed on the pavement.
The color run will be a 5K fun run or walk on Saturday, August 16th beginning at 10 a.m. Pre-registration is currently underway and Gamble said they already have over 100 signed up. Cost is $30 per person.
In other business, Gamble said they are talking to the mayor to see if he will budget some money for Freedom Park. He also commented that they plan to do the project in phases instead of all at once.
