Thursday evening was an exciting night for the Plymouth Lady Pilgrims as they earned another victory with a complete team effort.

Facing off against Goshen it was an exciting game to watch as the scoring battled back and forth and 24 total hits occurred in the game.

Goshen started the game with a 3 run rally and then turned a double play in the bottom of the first to start with the  momentum. But Plymouth fought back. Bailey Hatfield made a defensive play to fool the lead runner at 3rd base and keep it a scoreless inning. Plymouth scored it’s first two runs of the game with a lead off single by Zoe Keilman, followed by a single from Katie Berg. Samantha Wojcik hit the ball to the 3rd baseman who went for Keilman as she slid in safe at home.

With a 3-2 game, Goshen battled to regain a cushion with their lead by scoring 4 runs in the 3rd inning. The Pilgrims did not allow this to affect them as they scored 5 runs in the bottom of the 3rd inning to tie the game at 7-7.

In the 4th, Plymouth took the lead 8-7, but Goshen scored their final run in the 5th inning to make it 8 – 8. The final score was decided in the 5th inning as Plymouth took the lead by tacking on 2 more runs.

In this team victory for the Pilgrims, 8/9 positions got hits on the day.  Senior Sarah Iwinski was 3/5 with an RBI and a run scored, while Jillian Smith was 2/3 with a double and 2 RBI. Katie Berg also reached the base 4 times with 2 walks and 2 singles.

On Saturday the Lady Pilgrims host Triton for a JV/Varsity double header. It is also Plymouth’s Senior Day at 11:30.
