Potato Creek State Park will be hosting a special cemetery tour to honor local veterans on Saturday, May 24th at 10 a.m. at the Porter Rea Cemetery located within the Park.

From the Civil War to today, local citizens have served the nation in various branches of the U.S. Military. Jan Shupert-Arick, a descendant of the early settlers of the Potato Creek area and former Education Director at the Center for History, will lead the tour to the final resting places of locally-born veterans. The tour will provide glimpses into the life and times of selected veterans and will provide insights into the life and culture of rural area of St. Joseph County.   The tour is free of charge after the normal park admission fee of $5 in state or $7 out of state is paid.
