The incredible work of the Friendship Quilt Guild will be on display at Heartland Artists Gallery from August 30 through the month of September. The Friendship Quilt Guild will be displaying full size quilts and smaller quilts, along with wall hangings and lovely Christmas ornaments.
Mary Salazar is one of the founding members of the Friendship Quilt Guild that was formed in 1994 when 13 like-minded ladies got together to learn the skills needed for quilting. Some were accomplished quilters while others knew absolutely nothing about quilting. Mary’s quilt was a Christmas sampler. Each block was a different pattern and style but the same colors were used throughout to carry the green and the theme for the Christmas Season. Those who make the blocks signed them with their names and date.
The ladies from this initial charter group are still very active in the Guild today; Sylvia Biegler, Alice Ruiz, Mary Salazar and Nancy Earles. The current President of the organization is Barb Prusinski,
The Guild will be presenting a beautiful donation quilt. Tickets may be purchased at Heartland Artists Gallery or by contacting any member of this Guild. The drawing will be held on October 1st.
The Gallery will also be open Labor Day weekend from 10:00 am – 4:00 pm. Be sure to stop in and see the work of these quilters. This is one more exciting attraction to attend during the Blueberry Festival.
Interested in learning to quilt? Friendship Quilt Guild meets the 2nd Monday of the month at the Life Enrichment Center at 7:00 pm. Drop in and see what they are doing and next year we will be showing your work at Heartland Gallery.
Heartland Artists Gallery is located at 103 West LaPorte in Plymouth and is open from Tuesday through Saturday from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm.
