PLYMOUTH – Members of the Plymouth Plan Commission were asked to protect lake views with a set back amendment by property owners at Pretty Lake.

Members of the Property Owners Association of the lake community came before the Commission to ask them to consider amending set backs for new structures around the lake to protect the view of the lake of home owners. The association asked that the ordinance include language that measured from the edge of existing adjoining structures rather than a simple set back from the edge of the lake.

Brad Serf – speaking for the homeowners association said the hope was to keep new structures from being built where they would block the lake view from existing properties. He said that 35 members of the association had voted for the measure when polled at a recent meeting of the association and felt that while there was some opposition to the measure the majority of homeowners were in favor of the move.

Plan Director Ralph Booker read several letters sent to the Commission on both sides of the issue.

The Commission voted to adjust the ordinance with Deb Griewank the lone no vote.
