Special Shape Hot Air Balloons at Blueberry Festival

August 1, 2014

The Marshall County Hot Air Affair is hard at work getting ready for the 20th anniversary for the hot air balloons at the Blueberry Festival. This year the board is working on bringing 20 bright, colorful balloons to the festival, including two special shape hot air balloons. Oggy the Friendly Dragon and Smiley the Scarecrow from Indianapolis.

To put on this event each balloon is sponsored by a local area business. There are still a few openings for businesses to sponsor a hot air balloon. There are two sponsorship packages available, the first package includes a balloon ride for two people and a great advertising opportunity with the sponsorship plug during the balloon glow and newspaper advertising. The second package involves advertising only with no balloon rides.

The Marshall County Hot Air Affair needs your help in crewing for the Festival. The special shape balloons need 6-8 people each to help plus each regular shape balloon needs one to two people. We would like help for all four flights but if not all you can help will be appreciated. The ground crew helps setup the balloons, chases, and helps pack-up when they land. Get involved with hot air balloons and meet pilots from all around the Midwest, it is a fun and rewarding experience.

If you would like to be a sponsor or help crew please call Brian at 5747804560, Jim at 574-276-6558, or message Michiana Balloon Rides on facebook if interested.

The Marshall County Hot Air Affair is a nonprofit organization that has been part of the Blueberry Festival for the past 20 years. Left over funds from the festival are donated the local charities every year.
