July 14, 2014

Harman,Tim_St.Rep.Indiana House of Representative Tim Harman is allowed to nominate two member of his district to receive the Sagamore the Wabash Award each year. Sagamore of the Wabash Award is one of the highest awards given by the Governor for exemplary contribution to one’s community.
Below are some criteria to be followed when submitting the name of someone who you feel would be most deserving of this award. Harman said, “I’d like to submit this request by August 15.”
Criteria for Sagamore of the Wabash Nominations include: the nominee be at 18 years of age and an Indiana resident.
The nominee must have contributed to their communities in an extraordinary way (example: help create new community programs, bring new educational opportunities to their town, help serve the underprivileged, etc.).
A letter of recommendation and nomination must be provided by the legislator to explain why they are nominating the individual and their relationship with the nominee. Letters of recommendation from other members of the community are encouraged but not required.
In the ’80′s Governor Bob Orr gave out more than 4,000 Sagamores. Governors Evan Bayh and Frank O’Bannon distributed more than 3,000 each. Daniels gave out just 245 Sagamores.
