02/26/14  On Monday, February 24th at approximately 7:30 A.M. the Starke County Sheriff’s Department 911 Center received a call of an accident with injuries on 100 East just South of 350 South.

As officers arrived on the scene they discovered a two vehicle head on accident involving a passenger car and an SUV. The driver of the SUV identified as 26 year old Douglas W. Cady of Knox was alert and talking. The driver of the passenger car identified as 19 year old Mikinzie Wilson of Knox was pinned in her vehicle and had to be extricated.

Wilson was flown from the scene by Samaritan to Memorial Hospital in South Bend. The driver of the SUV was taken by ambulance to Starke Memorial Hospital and later transferred to Memorial Hospital in South Bend.

The cause of this accident has yet to be determined and remains under investigations until the Indiana State Police Crash Re-constructionist finishes the investigation. Alcohol and drug tests will be performed on both drivers as part of the investigation.

The Starke County Sheriff’s Department was assisted at the scene by The Indiana State Police Vehicle Crash Investigation Unit, Bass Lake Fire Department, Knox Fire Department and Starke County EMS.
