Heartland Gallery logoMagpie is Kerri S. Bash’s children’s art, including Collect-a-Kitty and Pick-a-Pup. Kerri S. Bash studied art at Columbus College of Art and Design and majored in Illustration. This training shows in her narrative based art, and her interest in animation is apparent in her children’s art through its vivid colors and energetic lines.
Encore_Kerri BashKerri’s largest influence is her passion for animals. Her adult art marketed under the name Magpie Dreams largely carries an environmental or animal rights message. She is a vegetarian and encourages everyone to be sensitive to the impact they have on others, human and non-human.
Kerri lives on a farm in Argos, IN where she enjoys gardening organically. She shares the space with her two sisters and her mother and numerous other organisms. She often uses the family’s dogs, cats, horses, chickens, and other animals as models for her art. In addition to her art, gardening, and caring for animals, Kerri also participates in live theatre. She acts and sings in Maxinkuckee Players, is helping to start up a theatre co-op of sorts at MoonTree in Donaldson called MoonTree Players, and performs as a Faire Folke in Fishers Renaissance Faire in Fishers, IN.
Encore_Kerri Bash_2Kerri exhibits and sells her work at art fairs from lower Michigan south to the Louisville area and throughout Indiana. She is represented by Paul Henry’s Art Gallery in Hammond, IN and is a member of Heartland Artists in Plymouth, IN and Logansport Art Association in Logansport, IN. She has exhibited her adult art nationally and won regional awards. She will be the featured artist at Heartland Artists Gallery in July. She teaches many different classes through Heartland Artists Gallery and Custom Framing Solutions in Bremen, IN. You can also see her work here in Nappanee at the library, in the children’s room as well as on one of their apples!
In addition to her own talents, Kerri is a willing instructor at Heartland Gallery. On the first and third Thursday of the month, Kerri teaches a class at Heartland titled Drop In and Draw. Artists and beginning artists are all invited to meet together to share their art and expand their horizons.
In addition to Kerri, Heartland Artists Gallery will also be presenting the work of an extremely talented local artist, Carrolyne Babcock. Carrolyne is one of the founding members of Heartland Artists Gallery and her work is beloved by many members of our community. There are very few mediums in which she has not worked. She has worked in Oil, Acrylic, Water Color, Pastels, Photography, Toll Painting, and Wood Burning to mention only a few.
This exhibit will open at Heartland Artists Gallery on Tuesday, July 1st and run through July 26th. Heartland Gallery is located at 103 W. LaPorte with hours Tuesday thru Sunday from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm.
On July 12th, Saturday, Heartland will participate in the Sidewalk Sale by offering plants, floral displays, garden art and other wonderful surprises.
