4/16/14 Leadership Marshall County is helping with the fight against texting while driving by using the latest trend in fashion. They will give “W82txt” thumb bands to students at Triton Jr-Sr High School (April 23rd) and Culver High School (April 30th) during a presentation about the importance of not texting while driving.
A study by the Virginia Tech Transportation Institute states that drivers are 23 times more likely to be involved in a car accident while texting.
Since this remains a prevalent and completely preventable issue, Leadership Marshall County is encouraging students at Triton and Culver to get involved by donning their bands in support of the cause. The thumb bands and presentation materials were part of a program from Auto-Owners Insurance and purchased through a generous donation by the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department.
