Jim Condon_Principal of the yearToday has been proclaimed Jim Condon Day in the City of Plymouth by Mayor Senter in honor of him recently being named the 2014 Indiana High School Principal of the Year.

Wednesday evening the Plymouth Community School Corporation held their annual Holiday Open House for employees and special reception honoring PHS Principal Jim Condon.

Dan Tyree, Superintendent of the Plymouth Community School Corporation welcomed those gathered in the school’s cafeteria and read a letter from Condon’s former English teacher and Superintendent Allan Bourff. He said, “I’m proud of Jim Condon. He was a solid student of excellent character, the same character being celebrated today.” As an administrator he said Jim was “student centered with high expectations from all students, the same characteristic being honored today.” Bourff said, “The success of Plymouth High School has been driven in large part by his focus and work ethic, traits being celebrated here today.”

The administrators provided him a gift certificate to Ruth Chris Steakhouse for a fine meal.

Mr. Condon represents the school, and as a gift the school presented him with another plaque from the school corporation announcing his principal of the year award.

Being a civic minded citizen who would act in the best interest of Marshall County, Superintendent Tyree nominated him for a position on the Board of Directors for the Marshall County Economic Development Corporation. Tyree said economic development is not only good for the county but for the school corporations. The Industrial community is proud to have him named Principal of the Year and presented him with a number of gift certificates to take a nice vacation with his wife Lori.

Jim Condon thanked everyone for taking time to attend the reception including his parents, wife, children and four grandsons. Hired 8 years ago from Knox where Jim grew up and worked, he felt fortunate to be able to work for the Plymouth School Corporation. Condon said, “This is a special place because we have great people who make great things happen for kids.” He closed by saying, “I’m privileged to serve a principal here and I appreciate your support.”
