Miller's_TriKappa_HistoryWalkWendy Holloway and Stacey Thomas of Tri Kappa spoke at Miller’s Assisted Living on Monday afternoon, August 4th. They discussed the upcoming Plymouth History Walk at the Oakhill Cemetery which is scheduled for Sunday, September 14th from 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.
Holloway explained how the History Walk is put together every two years. She and several others research Plymouth people who are buried at Oak Hill and they choose five or six individuals with interesting pasts. They then find local thespians to take on the persona of the deceased person. On the day of the walk, the thespians dress in period clothing and bring the person “back to life” by telling his or her story.
“This is a great way to enjoy an autumn walk and to also learn some of the history of Plymouth that you may not have known before,” explained Holloway.
The History Walk will involve five persons from Plymouth’s past including Christopher Bollman, Samuel Schlosser, Samuel Boys, the wife of Willis Thornburg and Hannah Burden. To find out more about these influential Plymouth people you are encouraged to attend the 2014 History Walk.
The History Walk is free, however a free-will donation is accepted. Tickets are also being sold for a chance to win a handmade quilt. The quilt is on display at the Marshall County Historical Museum. Tickets are $1.00 each or 6 for $5.00. Proceeds from the History Walk and the quilt raffle will benefit the Marshall County Historical Museum. Handicap tours of the History Walk are available and a raindate of September 16th has been set.
