Triton_Ancient_olympics2014The 6th graders at Triton Elementary recently had their annual “Ancient Olympic Competition” at the Old Gym. The sixth graders learned about the Ancient Olympics and researched the specific City-State that they would be representing.

Some of the events recreated in the Olympics are: Pentathlon, Pankration, Javelin, Discus, Chariot Race, Race in Armor, and many others. First, second, and third place awards are given out in each event.

The city state that won the overall competition was SPARTA. They were awarded a certificate, a candy bar, and an olive wreath for their heads.

Sixth grade teachers creating the ancient Olympic Competition are: Karyn McFarland, Theresa Watkins, and Adam Heckaman.
