INDIANAPOLIS – The Indiana Coaches of Girls’ Sports Association recently named their selections for their 2013-14 Academic All-State Basketball Team and Taylor Hatfield was among the 40 honored.

Hatfield, a Triton senior, recently completed her final season with the Lady Trojans. Last November, she signed with IU East to continue her basketball career as a Red Wolf along with studying biology and pre-denistry this fall in Richmond, IN.

Fellow teammate and senior Mallorie Jennings was honorably mentioned by the association.

“In all of my years coaching I’ve never had two students at the same time who have achieved so much academically,” Triton coach Adam Heckaman said. “Taylor and Mallorie exemplify what a student athlete should be.  They have dedicated themselves to their academics and their sports and it has paid off with the recognition they are getting.  They are bright young ladies with their priorities straight and will see nothing but success with the work ethic they’ve developed.”

To be eligible for the Academic All-State team, students must have a minimum of a 3.5 GPA on a four-point scale or equivalent, a minimum score of 1110 on the SAT (writing score not included) or a 24 on the ACT, and must participate in a minimum of half of their team’s games.
