The annual Veteran’s Day celebration at Plymouth High School was held Tuesday morning at 8 a.m. in the varsity gym with all students, staff and the community.

PHS_VeteransDay2014_RickHuffPlymouth attorney Rick Huff was the guest speaker for the event. Huff was a helicopter pilot in Vietnam. He served for 15 months from 1968 to 1969. Huff was born in Florida during WWII and says when his father got out of the service he moved their family to Plymouth, where he has been ever since. He has a wife and 4 grown children.

PHS_VeteransDay2014_Shelby&Grandpa2013 PHS graduate Seasmanm Quartermaster Striker Shelby May Haisley, attended the PHS Veteran’s Day celebration this year with her grandfather David Harmon England. Haisley is enlisted in the United States Navy. She is home here in Plymouth on a one-week leave before heading off to Virginia to fulfill her duties serving in the United States Navy. Her grandfather, served in the Navy from 1960 to 1966.

PHS_VeteransDay2014_CrimsonConnectionThe Plymouth High School Crimson Connection under the direction of Ryan VanAntwerp performed the Armed Forces Medley and veterans of each branch were asked to stand when they preformed each of the four branches individual songs (Navy, Air Force, Marines, and Coast Guard).

PHS_VeteransDay2014_speakersThe panel of speakers for Tuesday’s event also included Mayor Mark Senter, Brian Spaulding from Congresswoman Walorski’s office, and Indiana House of Representative and PHS graduate Tim Harmon.
