Late last week Walsh and Kelly completed their paving project on LaPorte and Garro Streets in the area of River Park Square and over the weekend a water main ruptured causing water to bubble up through the new pavement. 

Utility Superintendent Donnie Davidson told members of the Board of Public Works and Safety the ¾ inch service line to a home that was there years ago was never retired.  He said it was a line there were not aware of and the milling and rollers vibrating the ground cause the leak.

Superintendent Davidson said American Water Resource is again sending information out to city water customers about the availability of insurance for water and sewer lines. He said American Water Resources is a reputable company but the city in no way endorses their product.      

Mayor Senter told board members he had a discussion with Dr. Marshall, owner of the Park Jefferson Apartment last week.  Marshall has the first building renovated and filled with renters and the second building has his construction workers living in it.  The doctor anticipates having all 6 building renovated and filled by the end of the year. 

In other business the Board of Public Works and Safety approved the consultant for phase II of the Greenway Trail project.  SEH of Munster was selected by the Park Board and the Board of Works confirmed their decision.  City Attorney Sean Surrisi will begin negotiations with SHE.  Once approved, construction on the second phase of the Greenway Trail will being in 2016.
